As one of the most important tool of transportation in China, electrified railway has many advantages such as low pollution, high power and high efficiency of energy conversion. Which also gain electrified railway wide application in many other countries.In recent years there's been a rapid growth of electrified railway, with its mileage over 20,000km and traffic about 50% of all the railway transportation. In the meantime, the speedy development brings forward new requirement to the power supply of electrified railway. The drastic increase in both traction power and target speed of locomotive made required for traction substations to have greater demand of capability and quality from power system.This thesis started from a brief introduce on the characteristic of traction load in electrified railways. Following that, the voltage loss and corresponding capacity of short circuit in traction power supply system were calculated and analyzed based on harmonic, negative-sequence, net capacity of short circuit, characteristic and adopted measures with harmonic & negative-sequence of traction power supply system in other developed countries. From the result, the demand for power system supply capability of the common speed railway and high speed railway were given, the general formula for power system capacity of short circuit in the high speed railway was figure out by the author. Secondly, the author analyzed the effect on the power system by harmonic & negative-sequence with electrified railway in different supply voltage rating. And then, the Haerbin-Dalian electrified railway and the constructing Jing-Jin Passenger-Dedicated railway were introduced and their effects on power system were analyzed by the author. Finally, the author has given the suggestion about the rational voltage rating supplying to traction substations in different instance.The exterior power supply of electrified railway is an integrated and complicated system subjects, this thesis has just made the primary study in the present of the power supplier and consumer. Many other problems are to be solved by the department of power and railway with high cooperation.
