As one of the equipments for warming up the chamber, the fuel-fired heaters are used widely. Although the technologies for domestic fuel-fired heaters are developed quickly, they have biggish gaps compared with foreign ones at present. Simultaneously, the conventional methods used for fuel-fired heaters test remain as before, which take a lot of time and have low efficiency. In order to tackle these problems, the test and experiment platform for CN-5 fuel-fired heater is built up.The platform consists of fuel-fired heater controller and test system. In addition to the basic control function, the fuel-fired heater controller based on C8051F330 microcontroller has fault diagnosis and process function, fault code storage function, data acquisition function and serial communication function. The test data of fuel-fired heater can be calculated and recorded in databases , the reports in accordance with the related national standards are printed at the end of the test. The databases management function, reports preview and print function, data acquisition and storage function, fault diagnosis function based on fuzzy neural network are integrated in test and experiment software.On the basis of introducing the major technologies of nowaday intelligent fault diagnosis, the fuel-fired heater fault diagnosis based on fuzzy neural network and its design are expounded. The neural networks training module of fault diagnosis is designed to transfer commands and data from Matlab software by using ActiveX. The results of experiment demonstrate the design can achieve the goals and demands of the research project.
