In the thesis, the technologies of fault diagnosis and fault-tolerant control for the single electromagnet suspension system of Maglev train have been studied systematically from the viewpoint of active and passive fault tolerant control respectively for improving the reliabilities of Maglev train and solving the fault-tolerant problems of sensors of single electromagnet suspension system and a failure of one electromagnet of joint-structure.This thesis introduces the background and significance of the research work, summarizes the development of fault tolerant control technology, analyzes the domestic and foreign research production of Maglev train and points out the feasibility of the application of fault tolerant control to suspension system based on the analysis of redundancy of Maglev train. Then a fault detection and diagnosis system based on the Kalman filter is designed for common sensor faults. This system not only can detect and diagnose the failure of a single sensor, but also can detect and locate the failures of multi-sensors exactly.On the basis of the work above, an active fault-tolerant controller adopting switch strategy is designed. When a failure of the sensor occurs, the fault diagnosis system locates the failure quickly and distinguishes the model to which the fault system belongs, and then the controller switches to the control law designed for the fault of sensors to maintain the basic static and dynamic performance of normal system. In addition, a passive fault-tolerant controller based on simultaneous stabilization theory for joint structure is designed for the inherent redundancy of joint structure, by adopting a simple method for the unstable linear open loop system. The simulations indicate that the controller can suspend the joint structure stably when a failure of the other electromagnet occurs.In the thesis, a hardware platform for suspension control system based on DSP TMS320F240 is built, and then some experiments together with the analysis of fault control theories and simulations for the failures above are carried out. The results show that the active and passive controllers can tolerant the normal failures.Finally, the contributions and insufficiencies of the thesis are pointed out and further plans for the project are also given.
