Air suspension system takes the air spring as the elastic part; achieve the elasticity function based on the compression realization of air spring. No matter the full load or the idling, the pressure in the air suspension can be accommodated automatically along with the change of load and the path condition to keep the height of the body changeless. Using the air suspension can greatly improve the comfortableness of rides. Along with the improving comfort request, the air suspension is substituting the traditional leaf spring and helical spring suspension gradually because of its unique performance and the compatibility. This paper carries on the computation and research to a new type of compound air suspension. A stiffness theory analysis of the new type of leaf spring which used in the compound air suspension is carried out; a general stiffness formula is calculated. And the stiffness formula is calculated with the finite element method, its feasibility is confirmed. The paper provided a useful theoretical formula for the design of this type of leaf spring and the air suspension. The structural design of air suspension is carried on in the automobile design theory; the main parts of the air suspension are designed or selected. The paper takes ADAMS, the software of dynamical simulation to found the suspension model, and carries out the dynamical simulation. Several characteristic curves of the air suspension are gained to supervise the design.The FEA of the 3D model of leaf spring is carried out in the use of the FEA software which called ANSYS. The analysis gains the stress and strain of leaf spring under the maximal load, and confirms the stiffness of the leaf spring. The stiffness characteristic test in the guide of GB is simulated to gain the stiffness characteristic of leaf spring.The paper used MSC.FATIGUE, the fatigue life software, to simulate the fatigue life test of the leaf spring in the S-N method. The fatigue life of the leaf spring is gained and the fatigue strength is confirmed.
