The topology optimization is a design method that looking for the most optimal distributing form of structural stiffness in design space or the best way to pass power, in order to achieve optimization of some behaviors or alleviation of the structure weight. With the maturation and the improvement of shape and size optimization design in structure, the topology optimization has been becoming the hotspot and the difficult problem in structural optimization design research, and at the same time, which is the biggest challenge study in the world.It is well known that we can not get the excellent structural design scheme, even if there is the best design in shape and size optimization without the best optimum structural topological shape in the stage of preliminary conceptual design. Therefore, the author attempted to introduce the topology optimization theory to the optimization design in hydraulic gate, and in the hope of getting the optimum topological shape of hydraulic gate in the stage of conceptual design. The chief research and study work show as follows:(1) On the basis of extensive reading literature at home and abroad, the theory of continuum topology optimization was studied deeply, its usual topological optimizing methods and its mathematical models were discussed and analyzed. Meanwhile, their advantages and disadvantages were discussed and compared in detail. The problem appeared frequently in the topological optimization was discussed, and each solution scheme was brought forwarded.(2) On the basis of paramenter language APDL, the secondary development technique of ANSYS was processed and the program about topological optimization was explored, and its validity was verified by calculating examples of truss structure in difficult work conditions.(3) The theory of topological optimization was applied to the 2D and 3D of plane gate. The topological optimization outcome was fitted and its stress was analysed, which validated the feasibility of the appliment of the topology optimization in the hydraulic gate design.(4) The more complicated radial gate was designed by topology optimization, by the deformation analysis and stress analysis of optimization results, it was indicated that the stress equality distributing, so the all material can be used its best capability.
