Based on consulting and analyzing lots of internal and overseas documents about friction materials, the paper takes a new type semimetal auto brake disk of self-development as research object, and discusses the influence of a new high-performance bond on the semimetal friction material overcoming heat fade by research of theory and test, at the same time also the mechanism of the friction and abrasion, attains the anticipated results. The paper applies the bases of theory and test for the research and application of the new type of friction material.At first the paper introduces the developing status quo and open question of friction materials inland and overseas, showing the semimetal friction material, which has good antifriction, heat conduction, and be no pollution and cheap, will have a great future. The work principle of friction materials is expounded, the cause of heat fade is analyzed, and the corresponding methods are listed to solve these problems. The structure composition of disk brake-shoes of self-development is analyzed, and then the production and heat treatment process is confirmed. The capability difference of semimetal friction material by using different bond is analyzed, so the better performance of this friction material is proved. According to the orthogonal experiment of the directions for producing this new overcoming heat fade friction material, all kinds of testers and the whole test project are confirmed. According to the analyze of variance analysis and formula in qualitative speed experiment, the curve, which the content of this new high-performance bond and the preparation pressure to the friction modulus and friction and abrasion, is received, and then the friction and abrasion rule is summarized. According to the optimization of aftermath in qualitative speed experiment, the excellent direction for producing this friction material in price and quality is advanced, at the same time the characteristic of energy saving and environmental protection is explained. In the end, the direction of the future research to this new friction material is prospected.
