The purport of this thesis is to establish Evaluation Method of Spatial Configuration, on the base of visibility analysis, configuration analysis, and intelligibility analysis– these three fundamental principle and methods, to quantify and evaluate the architectural spatial configuration.At the same time, the Evaluation Method of Spatial Configuration tries to develop Space Syntax theory through analyzing and evaluating the potency of architectural spatial configuration from four aspects including spatial occupating coefficient, identifiability, association and security.And the Evaluation Method of Spatial Configuration is based on visual diversity of space, which analyzes and evaluates potency of architectural spatial configuration in quantification objectively. So it breaks through the current research that base on functional diversity of space in the industry at home.Moreover, the thesis proves the potency of spatial configuration in spatial occupating coefficient, identifiability, association, security and so on, which is based on Space Syntax theory and according to the relationship among spatial configuration, natural movement and potency of spatial configuration. It enriches the connotation of architectural spatial configuration to some extent.The significance that applies the Evaluation Method of Spatial Configuration through quantifying the accessibility and intelligibility of space consists in assisting researchers in seizing on potency of spatial configuration, optimizing space design in research of architecture design and making the evaluation of space be objective and scientific.Chapter one presents the background of Evaluation Method of Spatial Configuration, foundation, origin, innovation, and the range of research and significance of application.Chapter tow to chapter six is the main body of the thesis. It is divided into three parts, in which it presents the foundation of Evaluation Method of Spatial Configuration, establishing and application.The first part of the main body– the theoretical and methodological foundation to establish Evaluation Method of Spatial Configuration is chapter two to chapter four.
