Box cross-section column is widely used because it's advantage that bi-axial equistability in plane and high torsional stiffness. In order to transfer the bending moment at the end of the beam effectively, the stiffing plates should be planted at the column web while at the same high with the beam flanges. However, the stiffing plates would not be planted when the bending moment is small or as a result of constitution reasons. The conditions that should be met of the column flange and the column web at both the tension side and the compression side of the beam were listed on the Chinese code for design of steel structures (GB50017-2003), however, the rules came from the analysis of H-column and H-beam joint. As a result of the essential differences between the two joints, The rules on the Chinese code is not fit for the Box-column and H- beam all-welded joint. The purpose of this essay is fetch the performance of the perimeter column-connection between box-column and H-beam when no stiffing plate were planted inside the box-column at the position which at the same high of the tension or compression side of the beam flanges, through the static destructive experiments of beam-to-column, have done the following research work to the performance of beam-to-column connection:Through the static destructive experiments of 3 scale size the all-welded perimeter column-connection between Box-column and H-beam in steel frame when no stiffing plate were planted inside the box-column at the position which at the same high of the tension or compression side of the beam flanges. The experiments have researched two kinds of destruction modes of beam-to-column connections, analyzed the characteristic of distribution stress of connections. Finally, the conclusion is drawn on the basis of the synthesis processing analysis experiment data: the stress isn't uniformity of part of the beam that connected with the column. Thereof the compressed beam flange more than the tension. so the flange of the column is thick ,but that joint isn't be treat as true rigid joint. Height of stress effect region of the flange of column is triplicate height of beam. The indirect-stress flange barely take pare in to capacity. The Box-column or H-column and H-beam joint when no stiffing plate were planted inside the box-column at the position which at the same high of the tension or compression side of the beam flanges, the characteristic of tensile region and compressive region of the flange of column is same. so both position require the same condition. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | Steel frame, Box-Column, H-beam, experiment on the perimeter column-connection, Curve of M-θ, performance of joint, scaled test, all-welded joint | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
