At present twenty years, the new concept of tethered satellites system has been proposed, This system of tethered satellites has great potential to enhance earth surveillance, so it attract many experts and scholars. This formation consists of several satellites connected by tethers, and keeps or changes the formation with active length control of the tether, the purpose of the system is the saving of the thruster fuel required for the coordinated mission and the improvement of the control precision, using tether tension. At first, a mulit-tethered satellite formation which consists of one central satellite which stem tethers is investigated, each of which has a satellite at its end, it's nonlinear model are derived from Lagrangian approach. Secondly, finding their possible aquilibrium state for this tethered satellite system consists of three or four satellites, this aquilibrium points stability are discussed by linear analysis. Thirdly, aquilibrium points location, quantity and tethered satellite system vibration when the parameters have changed are investigated. Lastly, nonlinear numerical simulations of the dynamics equation of the formation consists of three and four satellites. The result indicate that the tethered satellite formation consists of three satellites has stabile equilibrium point, but not progressive, while all the equilibrium points of the formation consists of four satellites are not stabile. the parameter of structural damping hasn't influence to the lacation and quantity, the coefficient of elasticity play an important part on the location of some generalized variable, but they can not determine whether a equilibrium is stabile or not, and they all affect the vibration characteristic of the tethers and so on. Comparing to the formation cosists of three satellites, the formation consists of four satellites may be stabile by rotation, it could detect more great area, and have great strongpoint in three-dimensional imaging.
