Noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) is one of most important performances for automobiles, which can be felt and evaluated directly by customers. It has great effect on their total satisfaction for customers. Automobile manufacturers and suppliers hope to predict the NVH performance of their productions in the early design phase, so it requires the combination of vehicle dynamic and NVH design. In the past, the brake system designers only concentrated on brake function design. With the whole comfort performance being improved greatly, vibration and noise are becoming more and more prominent for automobiles, and are attracted great attention for Automobile manufacturers and suppliers. The Automobile manufacturers and suppliers invest much money in research, maintenance and insurance fee for brake system to improve its NVH quality each year. Nothing has almost been done on NVH research for brake system in China because of Chinese cars'relatively poor comfort performance. With the improvement of the whole car's performance, the brake design will be transferred from function to high NVH performance combined with function in the short future. The development simulating platform for brake vibration and noise has been established based on references and related mechanisms of brake system in the world, including parametric CAD models and ADAMS dynamic simulation environment. The relationship between brake disc thickness variation (DTV) and brake torque vibration (BTV) is studied; and the whole car performance simulation predication has been discussed primarily through simulation. The platform can be used for accelerating to improve the brake system NVH characters. The thesis is arranged as: introduction of research on NVH for braking system in first chapter; academic research on NVH theories for the second chapter; simulation and result explain for the third chapter; DOE parametric research on braking system in fourth chapter; the fifth part introduces braking vibration on the whole car performance. The new simulating platform provides directions for new brake system design, and the parametric platform makes it convenient for consequent hot judder and further study on braking squeal. Parametric modal is prone to sensitivity analysis and optimal design. The creative way to handle simulated data, mathematical modal for braking system and simulation analysis offer some thoughts for further research.
