Because fin-and-tube heat exchanger has the advantage of more convenience in machining and compacted configuration, it has been widely applied to the areas of refrigeration, HVAC and chemistry industry. The heat transfer coefficient of airside plays an important role of the whole heat transfer coefficient heat exchanger. Based on a U-shaped one, this paper studies the influence of internal flow field using both numerical and experimental method.The internal flow field of the heat exchanger was studied by a tool of flow visualization, and a number of sites of measurements of velocity and temperature of the internal flow is given.The flow field has been studied by using a CFD tool , FLUENT, too, and the results of numerical and experimental study are analyzed and compared. Study also finds that different direction of inlet airflow need further studied. The new problems have been studied by numerical method and field synergy principle according to different Re number and inlet airflow direction.This study shows that the application of numerical and experimental method on the internal flow field of heat exchanger is feasible.
