With the global positioning system (GPS) successfully studied, the application is also deeply developed. In the early 80's, the other countries already started to do research on the attitude determination system by using GPS. Now GPS attitude determination system based on multi-antenna have applied in many fields, but in the other countries single-antenna GPS attitude determination system is still in a preliminary stage, in our country it is just in the underway. A new attitude sensor is proposed that uses a single GPS antenna mounted on a turntable in this paper. The method is unique, the system is small in size as well as low in cost. It will be used widely in other fields in the future.In this paper, it presents the fundamental principle of the newly attitude determination system. It deduces the basic principles and set up mathematical model .It can be proved that this newly attitude determination system is feasible. It also discusses the relevant errors. It does a deeply research on the key problem—Kalman filter and compares the performance of EKF filter with the UKF filter by using matlab.The simulation result shows the measurement precision of this system satisfy the requirement of general attitude determination.
