With the development of automotive network technology and electronic communications, CAN-bus (Controller Area Network), as one of the LAN controlling technologies, has been used widely on the automobiles. It not only simplifies the wire harness but provides the convenient plat roof for the information share between the electronic controlling units.Above all, after the research of the theory of CAN-bus and the design of the node, the intelligent guided vehicle in the laboratory was used as the studying object in this paper. Then I designed the ultrasonic range finders as the avoiding barrier unit. Next, the CAN-bus was applied to the intelligent vehicle. It established the LAN of measuring distance system and realized the communications with the corresponding reliable agreement between the nodes. According to experiment, this measuring distance system which only needed two communicating lines instead of the complex wire harness can transfer data quickly, veraciously. It also enhanced the reliability and the expansibility of the system. At the same time, it saved the cost of the vehicle.After the paper's research, it proved that CAN-bus had the practicability and applicability. In a word, the paper has made out some helpful exploring for the applying of CAN-bus on the else domains.
