The temperature monitoring instrument uses MSP430F135 as the system chip to enhance reliability. Wireless telemetric data transmission via Short Message Service (SMS) of the GSM network is also a new application in temperature measurement instrument.This paper puts emphasis on the design and realization of the temperature monitoring instrument based on SMS. Firstly, some existing methods of data telecommunication are analysed and compared each other. The GSM network and SMS are described specially. The paper also presents the meaning of the whole research. And then the whole design of the system based on MSP430F135 is introduced, including the composition and the main functions of the system. Afterwards, the hardware design and the software design of every functional module are discussed in detail, especially the realization of communication function of the system. And the method of simulation with the least-square method is introduced. Furthermore, hardware and software anti-interference techniques of the system and the system debugging process are described. Lastly, this paper summarizes the design work and the prospect of the future development of the system is also proposed.Through the debugging and practical running, the temperature monitoring instrument is reliable, and has satisfied the demands. Data telecommunication can be realized by SMS of the GSM network. This technique is especially applicable outdoors. It must be widely applied in the field of measurement and control industry.
