The problem that how to measure the unrounded degree of the train wheels profile is concerned all along and perpetual studied and improved. That is because the irregularities of train wheels are the key factor of influencing the safety and stabilization of running.The article goes into particulars of on-line measurement equipment of train wheels' irregularities. The paper choose a kind of contacting detection mode basing on parallelogram linkage to realize the unrounded degree of the train wheels inspection. The basic principle of the mode is measuring the wheel-rim descending value relative to steel rail and the value then is transformed to the unrounded degree of the train wheels.The four main parts of the system are parallelogram linkage, noncontacting displacement sensor, data collecting and processing system, computer and data communication system. The electrical bow wave sensor of which the stabilization and aseismatic ability is strong is adopted in this system. But the measuring scope of the sensor is not of great width. Hence the sensor is installed horizontally to detect horizontal displacement value of the slab. Then the value is transformed to vertical displacement value. The data is imported to the DSP by ADC, and the data be processed is imported to the computer by SCI. The experiment and the result of the data processing show that under the low speed condition, the result is comparatively accurate and systemic measurement error is less than 0.4mm. Moreover, the installation of this system is convenient. Another strongpoint of the system is that it is not easily affected by the outside environment factor. The system will have great development foreground.The background of the project, the inland and overseas technology, the feasibility analysis is firstly introduced in the article. Then the working principle and the characteristic are described, the arithmetic of dealing with data and the generation of final project are particularly depicted. At last the estimation of the project is given.
