The intake and exhaust system of EFI engines have a great effect on the power, fuel economy and emissions of an engines. Therefor, it is necessary for optimizing the structural parameters of intake manifold and exhaust manifold.With the development of computer technology, many kinds of computer-aided design methods are widely used in vehicle product development process. In this paper, 1.3L DA471QLR MPI engine in Dongan company is an object of study, using AVL company's one-dimension CFD simulation software BOOST to optimize and analysis the intake manifold parameters of length and diameter, plenum volume and the exhaust manifold length, diameter and length of throttle body, diameter etc. For optimized design calculation result, 3D models of intake manifold and exhaust manifold are built, and then directly using the data of those 3D models to make the parts of intake manifold and exhaust manifold by rapid prototyping.With the parts of the intake manifold and the exhaust manifold assembling in DA471QLR engine as a testing engine, testing research of its power, torque and volumetric efficiency on the engine testing rig are carried out. The experimental results from testing is close to the optimized calculation result, its power achieved 58kW, and its torque reached 113.5Nm, the performance meet the expectant request of development object.By studying on structural parameters of intake manifold and exhaust manifold in this paper, the development method of analysis simulation calculation and CAD and CAM and experimental verification come into being. By this method the development period of engine is shortened, and the cost of engine is depressed, in future, for Dongan company in developing a series of engine structural parameters of intake and exhaust system, the method in this paper have useful reference value.
