This paper around the expansive soils of identification and classification, shear strength parameters of the forecasts and slope stability three key issues studied. Meanwhile on expansive soils water characteristic curve fitting equation with the forecast methods of theoretical research. Mainly made in the following aspects of the results:1. Discrimination of expansive soils independent indexes. Expansive soils from the expansion and contraction mechanism, using stepwise regression analysis, the judging expansive soil grade six independent feature indexes.2. Discrimination of different models in expansive soil identification and classification of the advantages and disadvantages of a more reasonable and practical judgment model. According to available literature, and study the judging expansive soil grade six independent characteristics, Based on the establishment of a Principal Component Analysis of judging function, BP artificial neural networks and SVM three judging model on expansive soils judging , classification, analysis by comparing SVM other than discrimination, in the judging expansive soil classification broad application prospects.3. Analysis of expansive soils of different soil-water characteristic curve fitting equation and adapt to the characteristics of the soils, of the actual works of great reference value; Study of the soil-water characteristic curve of different methods and achievements, for the future of soil-water characteristic curve for the research ideas .4. Fitting the water content and the shear strength parameters, suction and saturation intensity of the relationship between, the results of the analysis showed that the nonlinear relationship will be good characterization of the intensity of expansive soil characteristics, but also to facilitate the application of engineering practice.5.
