Traditional PDM has not already met the actual application's demands caused by globalization and inter-enterprises' cooperation, Web-based PDM takes attention to share the design resources within a distributed enterprise or organization, even enterprises on supply chain. Grid is considered as the next generation Web application, it may provide a wide application of resources sharing and cooperation among enterprises. The combination of PDM and grid is not only the inevitable development trend of PDM, but also the important aspect of the grid application. The concept and idea of Grid-Based Product Data Management (G-PDM) system are proposed in this thesis, as while as some researches on system model and key technologies of G-PDM are studied which may provides reference for the next new generation PDM system.In grid environment, a PDM system needs a high level intelligence, and must be a dynamic and open system. First, this paper elaborates the basic concepts and ideas of G-PDM. Based on it, a common architecture of G-PDM is proposed, and then the characteristic of the G-PDM is discussed.To elaborate G-PDM more clearly, reflect the complexity and the dynamic open characters of G-PDM, by using agent and MAS technologies, a model of the Agent-based G-PDM is constructed. Bsed on the analysis of operation process of design in grid environment, a product design service registry and discovery model based on semantic Web is put forward, which can be used to register and discover product design services, and realize the share of the resource of design service. Based on the grid security infrastructure and the idea of SOA(Service-oriented Architecture) and RBAC(Role-based Access Control), the privilege management model has proposed, which offers a universal service for permission and access control to enhance information security in a G-PDM system.Finally, with the actual application of a company, we have designed the ontology of the electronic packaging equipment design service and the module of the data access and control.
