The SENDZIMIR cold reduction mill is one of the key equipments in a factory which is used to roll down the silicon sheet and non-corrosive steel. The transmission system occurs exceptional vibrates and loud noise during the production. If the machine does not be maintained in time, it will cause the transmission system serious destruction and make the factory downtime for a long time, while, it will cause huge economic losses to the factory, too.By gathering the vibration signals of the transmission system which includes the breakdown information and using characteristic extraction and wavelet analysis to analysis the gathered signal, the preliminary judgment indicates that the breakdown lies in 6056MC3 gulley ball bearing of right reel-motor. The reason is the damagment of the rolling element. And then, it confirmed this point by an effective experimental technique. To changing the bearing according to the result of the breakdown diagnosis, and start working again, it can find the exceptionally vibrates has vanished. After a further measuring, the energy of the vibrate signal is lowered by one or two orders magnitude. This fault diagnosis is effective, as well, the fault diagnosis method is effective. It will make a great advance on enhance the productivity of the SENDZIMIR cold reduction mill, guaranteet the safety in production, and improve the product quality.By unifying the transmission system structure, using power spectrum analysis and wavelet packet analysis to carry on the extraction to the fault signal of the complex system transmission system. The main research content includes:(1) Introduce and analyze the principle of the wavelet analysis(2) Using the power spectrum analysis and the wavelet packet analysis infer the breakdown source which caused the exceptional vibrates of cold-rolling mill locating at the right reel-motor's bearing, and further obtaining the confirmation through the experiment, partly denying the view that in the reference to the in addendum circle characteristic pass frequency about rolling body of the ball-bearing.(3) Using confirmation method, it carries on the examination to the transmission system of cold-rolling mill which has been serviced once more. More analyze and process the same measuring point signal as the breakdown period, the result after the contrast we can see: The service effect is good, the theoretical analysis is effective.It has proved that the wavelet packet analysis method in the extraction of fault characteristic signal is effective, but it appeared the non-characteristic signal in the process of the test. However, this fault vibration is treated as characteristic signal in all textbooks. This method has a great effective on practical significance in the mechanical system fault diagnosis ,specially to bearing fault diagnosis.
