Based on engineering practice, experiment of 23 SRHC (steel reinforced high-strength concrete) columns subjected to low cyclic reversed lateral loads is carried out, and the result is analyzed. The major work is illustrated below:1. Based on the experiment of 23 SRHC columns subjected to low cyclic reversed lateral loads, the main failure patterns of SRHC columns under combining flexure, compression and shear force are obtained. And the influence of shear ratio, axial compression ratio, stirrup ration and grade of concrete strength on the aseismic performance of SRHC columns is analyzed.2. The limited values of axial compression ratio in ductile damage for SRHC columns are derived based on the balanced condition of forces in the case of balanced failure. The influence of steel section characteristic and steel ratio on the limited values of axial compression ratio is analyzed. Based on the experimental result, shear diagonal failure or shear-bond failure of SRHC columns owning to small shear ratio is analyzed and the limited value of axial compression is presented. Based on the analysis of the influence of stirrup ratio on the ductility, the limited value of axial compression ratio with different stirrup ratios is presented.3. Based on the strain gauge on the stirrup and the strain rosette on the web, the stresses and strains of stirrup in different failure patterns and the states of shear stress and strains on the web are obtained. The shear resistance of stirrup, web and concrete is analyzed. The shear resistance of SRHC columns which is under level load is opened out. Based on the failure patterns of shear resistance, the calculating formula for shear capacity of SRHC column on different failure patterns is presented. Based on the analysis of the major factors which affect the shear resistance, the calculating formula for shear capacity of SRHC column is presented.
