At modern times, the developed countries such as England and America maintain plane engine by state repairment, in other words ,they judge the statement of engine by the advanced transducer and singal processing to decide whether needs repairment. Espesially the engine of the American newest assault battle-plane F-35 adopt ultraviolet detector to ocassionally inspect the engine. Therefore, adopting ultraviolet light wave band to detect the statement of the engine is one of the most important develop trend.In this paper, a new technology is introduced to determine jet plane engine's enrichment phenomenon and engine's abnormal speed by using UV image processing method. The new technology acquires the plane engines' UV images and then extracts the features by analyzing those UV images' histogram and other characteristics just like the mean value, the maximum value, the minimum value and the standard deviation of grey scale. It can be seen from the experiment that it can determine jet plane engine's state by using UV images' histogram and other characteristics. And it is useful to UV image processing and extracting the UV image's features for it has less noise and interference than IR images' method.
