The Study Of Artificial Neural Networks And Genetic Algorithms In Geotechnical And Structural Engineering Application

There is a great deal of uncertainty in Geotechnical and structural engineering, the right solutions to these problems mainly are fuzzy math, Gray theory, artificial neural networks and genetic algorithms etc. This paper is mainly on artificial neural networks, genetic algorithms and a combination of both in geotechnical and structural engineering applications. I made a comprehensive summary to help engineering staff studying from the previous experience, overcoming deficiencies and better solving the engineering problems; push the applications and development of the three methods in geotechnical and structural engineering.Artificial neural networks aspect includes summary of the research and application examples on geotechnical and structural parameters of materials selection and classification, foundation engineering, foundation pit engineering, stability, optimization of design and engineering reliability analysis; Genetic algorithms aspect includes summary of the research and application examples on engineering analysis, material parameter selection and the constitutive model identification, structural optimization design, foundation engineering, slope stability, reliability engineering analysis and infrastructure works. Hybrid algorithm aspect in accordance with regard to artificial neural networks and genetic algorithms with different mechanism is divided into three parts, they are artificial neural networks improved by the genetic algorithm, ANN evolutionary genetic algorithm and artificial neural networks and genetic algorithms mutual cooperation. I reviewed every aspect with examples, analyzed and evaluated some of the examples.In summarize, I found some problems existed in the artificial neural networks and genetic algorithms, analyzed the solution and made some views of our own.
