Red clay is one of the special clays and territorial clay. In our country, it is nearly 50 years study on this clay, and has much understand about the clay. In chapter two, the red clay is generally summarize. In chapter three, it is classified and described the differentia between the red clay and expansive clay. And fuzzy theory is used to differentiate the two clays. In the next chapter, several factors effecting the deformation of red clay is summarize, and several methods to calculation active layer depth and expansion deformation are present. And the unsaturated consolidation theory is estimated, and Yang-Shen unsaturated consolidation theory is introduced to calculate the red clay consolidation. Last, form mechanism, condition, effecting factor and characteristic of the crack of red clay is analyze. The force of crack to the foundation is calculate by use of unsaturated soils mechanics. In chapter five, the classic theory of utmost bearing capacity is introduce. The average parameter of red clay and the ANSYS software is use to simulate the bearing capacity of red clay. The effect of modulus of elasticity, Poisson's ratio, friction coefficient and dilatancy angle on bearing capacity is analyze. By use of this analysis the disadvantage of classic theory is evaluate. And vertical stress change in the force process is show. The end of paper is the conclusion and suggestion.
