Having investigated and analyzed a lot of present structure damages and summarized the connection between the corrosion of reinforcing steel bar and the Bearing Capacity of structure. Researched the cohesive capacity and the mechanical behave of reinforcing steel bar which has been corroded. Deduce the location of corroded reinforcing steel bar through analyzing the strain change around the corroded reinforcement.The most important processes of this research are:1) Investigation of real structure : Having taken part in several structure health detections , investigated the damage of tensile reinforcement ,analyzed the distribution of cohesive stress around the reinforcement which has been corroded through theory and as it the foundation of the experiment.2) Experiment: The beam of which the steel bars are partly corroded is made in lab, the stress around a steel bar under different loading is gotten with BOTDA, and comparing with the signal from the lossless beam, the location and the distribution of the corrosion can be decided.3) Simulation with nonlinear finite element method: Numerical simulation is conducted by nonlinear finite element method. And the distribution of concrete cracks, stress contour figures, strain contour figures, load-displacement curves and path stress contour figures are acquired. The simulated results are contrasted to the tested ones and they prove the correctness of the test results as well as the theoretical ones.4) Application in engineering: Basing on the study above, the formulary of bearing capacity and a new Bearing Capacity analysis is deduced. From the research, we can conclude that BOTDA is very good at reflecting the location of reinforcement corroded and take the result as the judge of Bearing Capacity.
