Suspension is a major component of modern automobile. It is the function of the road wheels on the role of the various forces are transmitted to the chassis (or load type body), to ensure that the vehicle under normal conditions. In addition, there is a good shock absorption and buffering capacity, to ease the impact of load, protecting body, passengers and cargo, restraining curb irregular vibration of the wheel. The vibration caused by outside interference is an important factor affecting the performance of vehicles. Vibration will affect the vehicle ride comfort and handling stability and fatigue life of the accessories, so effective vibration control of the car to improve overall performance as an urgent task with practical significance. To improve the performance suspension,active suspension and a semi-active suspension have been used.One of the key tasks of active suspension design is to find a vehicle to provide good performance for the control law. Many scholars have put forth a variety of control theory,such as: skyhook control, optimal control, fuzzy control and neural network control. A stochastic linear optimal control algorithm in this paper was studied extraordinarily. The advantage of the optimal control is according to the state variables of the system and through evaluation of the minimum, to get an optimum integrated control targets. State variables can be selected based on need. The requirements of control variables can be harmonized through the weighted value. This is very suitable for multi-purpose control, such as dynamic load contained coordination, the stability control and comfort performance. Through the establishment of quarter vehicle model and the application of optimal control theory, a LQG (Linear Quadratic Gaussian) controller of automobile active suspension was designed. A system simulation model based on Matlab/Simulink environment was built and used for simulation. Simulation results were compared with passive suspension. The simulation results demonstrated that the active suspension with a LQG controller could improve automobile riding comfort performance enormously.There are endless variety of active suspension control algorithms, but often more than theoretical studies, the actual certification is inadequate. Suspension test system has some of the advantages that computer simulation and experimental road don't have. Suspension performance of the detection and the experimental study of control algorithm have great significance. Suspension test system is studied based on virtual instrument. After the theory research and simulation, optimal control algorithms is studied in the experiment. The results showed: optimal control algorithm to improve performance suspension with remarkable results. The second development of the suspension test system has achieved the expected results and for further research work has built a good platform.
