The appearance of top combustion hot blast stove is a revolution in the developing history of the structure of hot blast stove. It has canceled the independent burning chamber and instead uses the vault as burning space. It has many advantages compared with traditional inner and outer combustion hot blast stove, and it stands for the developing direction of high temperature hot blast stove in the future. However, the limited burning space of top combustion hot blast stove puts forward higher requirements for design of the burner. Appropriate burner must be developed to insure that the gas is completely burned before entering checkers of the regenerative chamber. It has been put into metallurgical production in recent years and fairly good reports from producing were received, but theoretical researches on it are still lacked. In this paper, by applying the k ?ε?g model of turbulent diffusion flame, numerical simulation of the combustion process in the pre-burning chamber and the vault of Kalugin hot blast stove is carried out on the basis of simplification to the real model. The flow field, temperature field and concentration distribution of components in the pre-burning chamber and the vault of Kalugin stove were obtained, and profile of the flame in the stove was also gained. The results gained were analyzed for knowing the combustion situation in the stove. In addition, the paper in other conditions remain unchanged under the circumstances, gas importers and radial angle, gas preheating temperature, excess air coefficient of variation of the impact of combustion were simulated. Through Kalugin hot stove of a series of simulation, the combustion characteristics of the hot stove has been more profound understanding of, some meaningful conclusions were drawn.
