Sichuan institute of building research has put up an expansion of application of high-strength prestressed concrete pipe pile in Sichuan province in cooperation with Chengdu Huajian pipe pile Co., Ltd. since 2003. With the characteristic of high strength, large force of penetration, great bearing capacity, low general cost and energy saving, the pile has been utilized widely in Sichuan province, particularly in Chengdu area from 2004. As the new technology in Chengdu area, it is checking mostly with the vertical static load testing, while the high strain testing is just a reference for lack of comparative data. Therefore, with the collection of certain data from both static load and high strain testing of prestressed pipe pile in the later two years, the author put forward the feasibility and attention matters of high strain testing based on the comparative study on it on static load testing. As a result, the high strain testing could be used separately in bearing capacity checking of prestressed pipe pile, which will reduce the cost of building owners.
