Vector network analyzer is a kind of intelligent instrument in electronic area ,it used to measure the amplitude-frequency and angle-frequency of port network or system.It's comprised of four part:signal source,measure device,receiver set and microprocessor.This paper researches and designs a kind of vector network analyzer based on MSP430.Firstly,it discusses the study value and base theory of network analyzer. Secondly,it introduces the overall plan of this system.What's more,this essay gives detail introduction of fivesections, which point to communications with signal chip(AD9951), PC, E2PROM chip (AT24C256)and 89C51,include both the hadeware and software parts.it also gives summary and forecast to my study.It adopts MSP430F149 to control hardware sections of interface between each other.In panel sample communication module,it use a 89C51 to sample and transport panel code to the master MCU;In data communication module,a E2PROM chip is used to save calibration data. In signal communication module, a DDS chip is used to make signal . In communication with PC module, a 232 chip(MAX232) is used to realize this. The 12bit ADC inside the single-chip microcomputer is used in the instrument to measure the output signal of the DUT.The system has the characteristics such as small volume, little weight, and low cost, which make it more applicable.
