The sands desert distribute abroad in the northwest of our country. The landform is fixation, half-fixation and moving sands dune. Be as foundation, the aeolian sands occurs shear destruction easy and it's bearing capacity low. Face with the aeolian sand's feature, the aeolian sand is reinforced by man-made with the geogrid which as a material of reinforce. Friction action will be produced, when geosynthetics as reinforce material contact with earth and come into movement relative to earth, it can diffuse stress and limit side displacement of the earth. So geosynthetics can improve strength and stability of the soil mass.According to the physical and mechanical speciality of reinforced aeolian sand, author using geogrid to improve the strength of resist uplift bearing and resist compress bearing. Author gets exact dates from the aeolian sands outdoor prototype test and indoor model test. By comparing the date which got from the aeolian sand soils test, author probe into the character of strength ad deformation of reinforced Aeolian sand, and then analyze the mechanism of reinforced. At last, Author profoundly analyzes the result get in the tests, and drawing a conclusion which shows stress distributing, vertical deformation rule.After setting up the three-dimensional model which are reinforced and unreinforced, Author apply finite element analysis software ABAQUS to analyze the reinforced and unreinforced Aeolian sand under compress and up-lift conditions. Then author compares the date got by numberical simulation with the date got in indoor model test and prototype test. To study the reinforced aeolian sands strength and deformation performance basing on related information and the result of numberical simulation. Verifying again that geogrid as reinforced material can increase the resist uplift bearing capacity and resist compress bearing capacity and restrict distortion of aeolian sand mass.
