CFG piles have been used at large to reinforce builing foundations, and .the obivious economic and social benefits have received. However there are few cases of utilizing CFG piles to reinforce the foundation of large scale storage oil tanks, and this is the first time to use this method in Dongying. Therefore, it is necessary to research the adaptability, economy, and design method and field project character of this method.Depending on the specific project character, the design method of storage tanks'foundations is put forward and compared with other common method. Futhermore, through qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis the adaptability and economy of utilizing CFG piles to reinforce large scale store oil tanks are discussed.Based on those existent theories of design and calculation of CFG piles, the means to choose the bearing stratum of CFG piles end are put forward, the functional mechanism of cushion is expatiated, and the right range of the thickness of cushion is proposed, the design pattern of bearing capacity of CFG piles composite foundation is analysised, some common estimated formulae on bearing capacity are compared and the rationality of the formulae in code; the status in quo of settlement calculation of CFG piles composite foundation is described, various settlement calculation methods and their adaptabilities are compared and find out that composite modulus method has better adaptability, which calculation hypothesis are more rational and calculation precision is higher.The test data recorded during the field foundation improvement of the large scale storage oil tank under roundness uniform load in Dongying ---50000m3 is analysised in detail. As result, the settlement, the pile-soil stress ratio, the side stress distribution of circle wall, stress distribution and movement rule of the reinforce bar in CFG piles composite foundation are brought forward. These analytical results can provide beneficial reference for similar project.
