Concrete structures are subjected to dynamic loads unavoidablely, for example, seismicload, blast load, impact load. There are distinct difference between the dynamic behavior ofconcrete and its static behavior. Because dynamic experiment of concrete is very complex, stiffness and accuracy of test equipment are required strictly, and there are differentexperimental methods in tests, conclusions are different in different tests. In the past tests, there are more dynamic behavior experiments, less dynamic damage experiments, moredynamic compressive experiments, and less dynamic tensile experiments. So the dynamicbehavior and damage behavior of concrete are studied necessarily and profoundly. In this paper, based on the dynamic tensile experiment characteristic of concrete, testequipment is accessed and introduced. Based on the test equipment performance, strengthgrade and experiment method are designed.According to the stress state of the large-scale concrete structures when exposed toearthquake, the strain rate range is accessed appropriately. The damage evolutions of concreteare studied under dynamic uniaxial tensile loadings. The rate-dependent deformationcharacteristics are studied along with the tensile strength. The elastic modulus, critical strain,Poisson ratio and energy absorption capability are tested over a rather wide range of strainrates. The relationship between the strength of concrete and internal variable and therelationship between the dynamic uniaxial tensile strength and rate of internal variable areanalyzed. These are important to build the dynamic damage constitutive models. The different dynamic tensile loading history on concrete is carried out previously. Thedamage of concrete is denoted by the reduction of tangential modulus. The damage evolutionsof concrete are studied under loading history. And the elastic modulus, critical strain, Poissonratio and energy absorption capability are also analyzed. The cyclic dynamic tensile loading acts on the concrete 20 times. The damage evolutionsof concrete are studied under cyclic loading history. And the elastic modulus, critical strain,Poisson ratio and energy absorption capability are also analyzed.
