The flow field distributions in the guide vane cyclone tube and the discharge tube are measured and analyzed in detail by using the five-hole probe. The results show that the flow in the discharge tube is strong rotating flow and the high speed rotating intensity, reverse flow region and the contrary pressure gradation of the static pressure are contributed to the pressure loss in the discharge tube. The energy consumption in the discharge tube is extremely serious and has no contribution to the particles'separation. In order to reduce the energy of that part, three kinds of pressure drop reducing structures are devised and experimented together, such as the straight stick pressure drop reduction frame, grid pressure drop reduction frame and the taper pressure drop reduction frame. The results of pressure drop characteristics experiments indicate that the new type cyclone tube's pressure drop reduction extent is directly related to the sticks'number, length and the radial position of the straight stick pressure drop reduction frame; is directly related to the length, width and number of grid pressure drop reduction frame installed under the split flow core tube. The pressure drop reduction extent is not significant when the taper pressure drop reduction frames are installed inside the discharge tube. The distribution regularities of the three-dimensional velocity and static pressure of original flow field have been changed by installing these pressure drop reduction structures, and the flow resistance losses and the energy consumption are reduced.
