The protection of UHV transmission line has extraordinary effect on the security of electric power system. As the electric power systems in China become larger and larger, more and more UHV transmission lines have been applied. This leads to the necessity of more advanced protection device for UHV transmission line. The development of a novel UHV transmission line protection system is the headline of this thesis.At the beginning of this thesis, the history of relay protection has been reviewed. Then it describes the present research work on the protection of UHV transmission line and the latest research trends in this field. Compared to conventional protection device, the UHV transmission line protection system based on TMS320F2812 chips has extended much in function. From the viewpoint of its significance in electric power system, the thesis designs andstudies an integrated scheme which has advanced performances, especially some newprinciples such as a high sensitive starting element based on a phase-to-phase current sampling values, a positive sequence directional element based on fault component, a phase-to-phase distance element and an earth distance element.The software design is based on the embedded RTOSμC/OS-Ⅱ. After introducing some basal concept ofμC/OS-Ⅱ, the paper emphasizes its naturalization to LPC2292. And then, the software part presents the protect configuration and arithmetic, moreover, it introduces the task partition and the design of the application in detail.The microprocessor protection device mentioned in this paper is novel from the angle of collectivity scheme and design idea. The result indicates the scheme satisfies the basal request of protection.
