The modern power system is coming into an age of big scale, high voltage, and large capacity. The requirement of the generator's stability has become more and more important. The excitation system plays a very important role in power system transient stability controlling. It is needed to pay a particular research to the excitation system, and to establish the excitation system model library in the power system simulation software. The operators who in charge of the power network dispatching can use the simulation software with the library to do a precisely stability analyze.This thesis studied the parameter identification and modeling simulation of hydro- generator's excitation system in theory and practical aspect. The configuration and model of self-parallel excitation that widely used in hydro-generator's excitation, and the model of self-parallel excitation in PSASP are introduced in detail. The integrated process of identifying parameter of practical system is presented, the parameter identification flow and the optimized initialization of the GA parameter identification is analyzed. A real hydro-generator's excitation system is modeled based on the above research results and the identification results is evaluated with the MATLAB and PSASP, and the stability of identification result in frequency domain is analyzed, which proves the correction of identification result.
