The thermal power takes of a dominant position in the electricity supply in China. As the development of the national economy and the power industry, energy consumption, resulting emissions and other issues has become increasingly serious. The government started to attach importance to related issues, and promulgated mamy lelative emission standards, to save energy-and to reduce pollutant emissions. As for this paper, a power plant' 600 MW coal-fired boiler was studied by the method of theoretical and numerical simulation. Combining with the actual operation conditions of power plant boiler, some aspects was distributed, such as the furnace flow field, temperature field, oxygen concentration field, carbon monoxide concentration field, carbon dioxide concentration field, particle burnout rate, as well as the emissions of NO_x and SO_x.Theoretically, the 600 MW coal-fired power plant boiler problems and the main influencing factors coused these problems were studied. Meanwhile, their control methods were studied too.Numerical simulation was the main focus of this paper, but the computer-assisted optimization of numerical experiment was also one of the key features. Appling Phoenics 3.6 and Fluent 6.3 and other software, according with the plant actual operating conditions, this paper payed much concern to the flow of the boiler and furnace combustion process and emissions of NO_x, SO_x., not noly in the aspect of theoretical analysis, but also in the aspect of different predesigned swirl number and different air volume ratio of simulated conditions.Compared the asults each other, optimization was completed. For the simulation of the furnace combustion process, in contrast of many types of the physical model, the simulation model, and the basic actual data of the power plant, this paper determined the most appropriate physical model and simulation models.
