| SMA pavement has been widely used in the highway construction of China. Nowadays, basalt and some neutral minerals are applied in SMA pavement, but those only exist in few regions. It is very necessary to study on the granite adaptability of SMA for solving the deficiency of high quality aggregates and utilizing region resource in reason.Some issues on materials selection are introduced, and the physical and mechanical performance indices of material used in this research are established on base of some laboratory experiments. Adhesiveness test is applied to investigate the adhesiveness between granite and asphalt, modified asphalt are added into different dosages of anti-stripping agent, through analysis on the test results, the optimum anti-stripping agent content is concluded. We find out that adhesiveness can be improved by the addition of proper anti-stripping agents. Based on the design theory of graded anti-skidding asphalt concrete, Marshall volume design procedure was adopted to establish target gradation design of SMA-16 type granite-mixture. The optimum asphalt content of mixtures is determined according to volume of air voids, and furthermore we make experiments confirm the mixtures design.The mixtures gradation and the optimum asphalt content are ascertained in production process on base of gradation modulation and evaluation. The experimental section of pavement is chosen in a typical region, and construction technology is proposed of SMA granites mixtures during pavement construction. The detection results show the performance of experimental section is favorable through local detection and observation for two years, which implies granite can be used in SMA by choosing appropriate gradations and anti-stripping agents.
