The Disquisition Of The Neoteric Christian Church In Shanghai (1843-1949)

In this text, Part 1 pay attention to reproduce original appearance of the history of the neoteric Christian Church in Shanghai. Based on the literature ,archives and a large number of religious information destroyed at the "Cultural Revolution" period, especially on correcting erroneous and the scene investigation, the text establishes the hundred-year history of Christianity in the neoteric Shanghai.Such establishment integrates Brief History of the development of Western Christian and Christian churches in the great historical environment of the neoteric Shanghai and in the spread of neoteric Christianity. At the same time, because of the significant differences of Christian Church in different historical periods ,it will be divided into three different phases.Part 2 pay attention to study the causes behind the historical phenomenon, in particular the impact of the frequent cultural exchanges in neoteric Shanghai. The article systematic analyse architectural styles in three historical periods , sum up the evolution of relations between them. Then explore why such Romanesque Christian Church with Gothic architectural characteristics will become the mainstream .At the same time, no matter what style of history, Shanghai is not only different from the Western Christian churches, and also different from traditional Chinese architecture, it is an eclecticism. what is the motive behind the eclecticism? By theoretical analysis,examples of comparative studies,the empirical analysis,and other methods ,the article further answer this question from the multi-angle, in the cross-multidisciplinary background and noted that the complicated historical environment in neoteric Shanghai,the inherent integration and assimilation of the different cultures ,are the decisive reasons that the European Christian churches vary to a Eclecticism in Shanghai.
