With the interconnection of power system [0] and occasionally occurring of inter-area low frequency oscillation, insufficient damping of the weak-interconnected power grid has become a serious issue affecting the power system stability. Thus, it is significant to study the method to restrain low frequency oscillation to today's power grid. The methods that are commonly used to restrain the LFO are as follows. In order to improve the power grid, FACTS technology is usually used in the power grid aspect, PSS device and the optimal excitation controllers are added on generators to restrain the LFO. These methods all have fatal disadvantages. Conciliating the settings of multi-generators'excitation system can improve the stability level of power system on the base of self-stability and has positive meaning to power system stability.Grid technology is a powerful tool to solve the problem of dealing with and computing massive distributed data. Using the grid technology as the platform, combining the inspection and control technology in power system can form a new control of power system, which is called power grid. It is an effective method to ensure the security of the power system. The program of small signal stability analysis will be more accurate with the support by the grid technology. In this paper, the significant effect of excitation system can be obtained through analyzing the influence of excitation system to the small-signal stability of power system. R_M_A method is used to analyze the model of excitation system and to discovery the facts that have main influence to the small signal stability. Then, optimization arithmetic is adopted to optimize these facts. At last, this paper develops the excitation system setting optimization program and testifies the validity of our program by example study.
