PLC (Power Line Communication) is a data transmission method by making use of power line as the communication media. Since it has the advantages of low-cost and easy to setup up network, PLC has a lot of potentials. But now days, because of its complexity and long development circle, power line design has quite high cost and are restricted to low speed applications like remote meter reading and home broadband access solution like xDSL. In this paper, by combining power line communication technology with high performance ARM LPC2210 embedded platform, I implement a power line communication terminal which can not only widen the power line embedded applications like digital home network, industrial Ethernet but also shield the complexity of the power line and make the application easy to fulfill.The thesis first studies the characteristics of the power line channel, sets up a channel model for analysis. For the deep comprehension of power line communication theory, the thesis introduces the principle of OFDM in power line communication, and analyzes the HomePlug 1.0 standard in detail especially about the regulations about PHY and MAC. After the related theory analysis, the thesis gives the description of design and implementation of every module in detail both in software and hardware. Later in the fifth chapter, a simply application is given, which can not only display the performance of the terminal and gives an example for later development on this platform but also test the stability of the platform.
