Many researches have been made on the deep foundation trench and the shield tunnel construction technology in the home and abroad, but it is the first time to make research on 30M deep trench along the Qiantang River and the shield tunnel construction across the Qiantang River.In this paper, studies was made on treatment of the aquifer stratum which exists in the sandy soil, the pebble and gravel foundation in Hangzhou Area .With large permeability and high underground water level in the aquifer stratum and abundant rainfall in this area, it is critical to control the aquifer affect so that the deep foundation trench and the shield tunnel construction could be conducted successfully. Up till now, there is no sound key technical experiences which can be drawn, concerning the aquifer characteristics in the old Qiantang River channel, the forms and features of the foundation before and after the underground water-level reduction, the affects on the Qiantang River dam, buildings and underground pipelines caused by the deformation of the trench retaining structure, etc.Finally, the forms and features of the aquifer stratum in the old Qiantang River channel was described, the treatment of the aquifer and the design method of trench retaining structure was put forward. In addition, analysis and suggestions was made on the foundation consolidation for the inlet and outlet channel of the shield tunnel in the sandy soil foundation with high underground water-level.
