The steel truss arch bridge is grand and magnificent, there is some merits such as it has a great ability to step across and bearing capacity. This kind of bridge used in the project practice in the overseas has nearly hundreds of years.But as a result of economic level limit, only until the beginning of the 80s it has been used in the project practice in our country. The Chongqing Chaotianmen Yangtze River Bridge in process has a span of 190+552+190m, it is the longest of the steel truss arch bridge in the world, which has been a historical breakthrough in the structure's system .But there is very little literature material about the research of the long span steel truss arch bridge that can be retrieved at present., and people incomprehensibly know about the steel truss arch bridge in the theory and practice.This paper takes Chongqing Chaotianmen Yangtze River Bridge which is being in construction as background to study the structure's mechanical properties of its whole, the stress characteristic in the construction and the stress characteristic of the gusset plate. Firstly, this paper summarizes the static properties of the steel truss arch bridge under each kind of load and the essential combined load, makes the bulkling and the dynamical behaviors analysis, and analyzes the factors which affect the bulkling and the dynamical behaviors analysis; Next summarize the great span steel truss arched bridge job practice characteristic,through the tress behavior analytical study in the chongqing Chongqing Chaotianmen Bridge construction, summarizes the key questions which exist in the steel truss arched bridge in the construction in process and through which adopts corresponding measures, and has carried on the analysis and the discussion to the construction process each kind of controlled variable's change situation.Finally analyze the gusset plate rigid secondary stress and the gusset plate rigid region deeply, give some beneficial suggestions about the gusset plate rigid region to engineers.This paper systematic summarizes mechanical properties of the long span steel truss arch bridge, It will be valuable for the next similar bridge's design and the construction.
