With the increase of electricity capacities and the change between load peak age and bottom of grid, larger capacity units are required to include in the load adjustment, such that 300MW unit or 600MW unit is used as units participating in the load adjustment. Then more demands not only high efficiency in design condition but also in variable condition was proposed. This paper introduces the curves of operation characteristics of boiler feed water pump and the similarity theory, and variable condition calculations in various partial-load of steam-turbine-driven pump in 600MW unit are proceeded. Thermal efficiency in variable conditions for steam-turbine-driven pump is high and comparing between constant pressure and sliding pressure is carried out. Based on the capacity of boiler feed water pump, thermal efficiencies in various conditions are calculated, which is meaningful to the operation optimization.
