In recent years, more and more steel-concrete composite structure were applied to high-rise building. Structural seismic design is very important aspect of structural design. With increase in altitude of high-rise building, column of ground floor have to bear higher and higher axial load. Based on the investigation to damage caused by earthquakes, people have realized the design of columns play an important role to prevent the collapse of building in strong earthquakes. Therefore, the columns are required to have high bearing capacity as well as high ductility.To sum up and investigate some domestic and overseas literature about steel reinforced concrete column , the major contents of this article are summarized as follows:To introduce the tectonic principle of steel reinforced concrete composite structure and the destructive criterion and stress-strain relations of concrete and steel material etc.Investigate and analyse the carry load performance and characteristics of steel reinforced concrete columns. Take a building for example and use PKPM software to testify that substitute steel reinforced concrete column for reinforced concrete column, the section size of column decrease to 60 percent but the variety of maximum displacement-angle is small and at the same time , it increase the ductibility of column.The article present some viewpoint such as the restrict of axial compressive load to capacity ratio can be loose in some sort if only maximum displacement-angle can meet a requirement of seismic design code and so on.Use ANSYS software for investigating the displacement,stress and strain distributing of three forms of column section under the same axial compressive load to capacity ratio and steel ratio and make some conlusion.
