An adaptable vibration absorber and a nonlinear isolator are investigated in the paper. The vibration absorber is attached to the machine-the main system, and between the base and the machine located the nonlinear isolator. The minimization of the vibration response has been carried out under different style of excited force on the machine.The first part of this paper presents an introduce of the dynamic vibration absorber, consisting of a mass, a spring and a damper, which is attached to a vibrating main system so as to attenuate its undesirable forced vibration response. The nonlinear isolators are also mentioned and the advantages of them have been discussed.The followed part of this study is to identify a suitable control method and optimized parameters of the non-linear dynamic vibration absorber for the reduction of the amplitude of the main system. A non-linear dynamic vibration absorber has been designed and investigated, and a suitable control method has been applied for the main system. The dynamic vibration absorber is assumed to possess a Duffing type, stiffness. The response of the main system is derived for numerical simulation. The effects of the parameters of the system have been discussed, and several different control methods have been compared. Numerical results show that the optimized parameters of the system and the suitable control method perform better.The last part discussed the effects of the nonlinear dynamic vibration absorber when the machine is excited under a transient force.
