The development of Wave Making Theory has been reviewed in this dissertation, including the linear and nonlinear theories, Slow Ship and Shallow Waters, as well as its application in engineering. It also gives a brief introduction of theoretic models and numerical methods which used in Numerical Wave Tank. The main part of this dissertation is the analysis of wave making problem caused by a submerged moving body in time domain, it brings a method for this kind of research. The Laplace equation with potential theory is the foundation of simulation which is applied in this dissertation. With the boundary element method, we can place Rankine sources on both free surface and body surface, then the numerical equation of waving making problem caused by a submerged moving body can be followed from Green Theorem, with the discretization of this equation, we can get a computing matrix, its results are velocity potential on body surface and normal velocity of the free surface, bring the results into boundary conditions of free surface, the wave pattern of free surface at that moment is obtained, through a number of iterative methods, the final steady wave pattern will appear. The whole calculation is dealt with C language, by considering its logic and structure carefully, the transplantation of the programme will come true, and its efficiency and reliability will also be improved greatly. In this dissertation, there are detailed discussions and analysis about the dimension of free surface, the quantity of grids, the velocity and submerged deepness of the moving body, as well as iterative times, all of which will affect the calculation results. The author also gives comparison between the linear time-domain source method and the method used in this dissertation, good agreement is obtained. It is proved that the method can be successfully used in application of numerical wave making tank.
