A method of the marine hydrostatic calculation methods——Non-Uniform Rational B-Spine (NURBS), which is based on analysis to traditional Ship Statics, is provided. In this paper, the method of using NURBS to calculate (marine) hydrostatic, which is based on AutoCAD, is introduced in detail. The techniques of connecting AutoCAD in Visual Basic.NET and editing NURBS in AutoCAD are analyzed.Because Sybase was used as the background database in the system, the key technique in the database access technology of ADO.NET in Visual Basic.NET is introduced in detail in this paper. Otherwise, the characteristic, discreteness of ADO.NET, and the method of using the discreteness are introduced. Finally, the technique in the Sybase database access technology of ADO.NET is explained, such as the method of using Public Module in the system and the technique of data binding. Moreover, the codes about the two methods are presented in this paper.Based on the above analysis, a marine hydrostatic calculation system is developed. It has friendly interface and practical function, and applies the NURBS method. Through running of this software on a ship, the author proves that this system is better than the traditional system of B-spine.The knowledge of numerical computation and computer technology are synthetically used in this paper. The aim of the research introduced in this paper is to process some meaningful exploration in the aspects of marine hydrostatic computation and computer assistant design(CAD). The good results can provide a new design idea for the engineers in the ship industry.
