Monographs On The Social Spatiality Of Hanzheng Jie Area Of Wuhan City Public Toilets

This paper takes the public toilets in Han Zheng Jie area as the research subject. By some effective ways, such as literature reading, filed investigation and so on, the paper has fulfilled the comprehensive study not only on the public toilets themselves but on the outside space of public toilets in Han Zheng Jie, trying to find out the relationship between public toilets and the residents'lives, and the business with the rapid development in Han Zheng Jie. In addition, the author attempts reflecting the connotation of urban space, from the perspectives of public toilets in Han Zheng Jie.This paper takes Han Zheng Jie area as the research scope, which was Friendship South Road to the east, Wusheng Road to the west, Zhongshan Road to the north and Yanhe Road to the south. The study progress could be divided into six stages: first, history study; secondly, qualitative research; thirdly, correlation research; fourthly, scene investigation; fifthly, logical proof; sixthly, case studies and comprehensive strategy. Through these steps above, results of the study revealed the relationship between the public toilets in Han Zheng Jie and the urban space.The public toilet as one of the public utilities, whose basic goal is to meet the people's needs for the restroom. The role of public toilets changed as long as the time proceeding and urban renewal. Public toilets not only was the restroom for people, simultaneously but also gradually becomes the representative of urban development. They could reflect the development of urban space from a new perspective, and become the"epitome"of urban space. The significances of the study is that the author brought the public toilet into design region of urban space, and provided a new consideration for the study of urban space by re-comprehension urban space from a new perspective.
