In the development of the modern auto engine the main task is to save the energy and decrease the exhaust. However, these two aspects are difficult to achieve especially for the traditional gasoline engine. Gasoline direct injection (GDI) engine is the effective way to achieve the above mentioned tasks. The task of our group is to study on the new type GDI engine with an ignition chamber. The paper aims to develop the system with electronic control and combustion analysis and the system is fit for the newly developed GDI.The system is based on the high efficiency data acquisition technology and LabVIEW, an effective tool to develop virtual instrument. The research of the electronic control and combustion analysis is an integration of acquisition, analysis and control. The system is consisted the following three main parts include electronic control, data acquisition and combustion analysis. Basic hardware includes high speed data acquisition card, pressure sensor, charge amplifier, photoelectric encoder, computer, ignition execution setup etc.The application developed on the LabVIEW has the function of favorable human-computer interaction. The interface of the software is visual and easy to operate. The design of the system adopts modularization programs. These dependent modules are convenient to have the system upgrade and expand other functions including ignition control module can receive crank angle signal and TDC benchmark signal, compute ignition time, send out ignition signal to implement the ignition control exactly; data acquisition module can filter and deal with the input information, release some of the information in the monitor window and all the information can be used by the analysis module; data analysis module can analyze the pressure information of the cylinder stored by the storage module. The result of the analysis is illustrated on the screen by charts.The system has been successfully applied to the ignition control and data acquisition on the GDI engine. And the functions of the system have also been validated. The result shows the system can achieve the following functions such as ignition module can control engine ignition accurately, modify ignition advance angle and charging time of ignition loop on board; data acquisition and analysis modules can obtain good In-cylinder pressure curves and all kinds of combustion information to supply favorable gist to evaluate engine performance and optimize engine further.
