Along with the development of national economy and the great demand of energy and environment, the policy of the country's energy has been readjusted and the environmental protection demand has risen, for the industrial boiler. Nowadays, CWS (coal water slurry), which is as a clean coal technology and as a new type of coal process, has been used more and more in the industrial boiler. The benefit of environmental protection of using CWS-fired industrial boiler is notable. So it is urgent to develop the monitoring and controlling system which suit for the CWS-fired system.This paper focuses on the research of the small monitoring and controlling system in CWS-fired industrial boiler. Considering the fact of the boiler, system is designed to the DCS control system. It includes the total design of the monitoring and controlling system; the select and design of hardware and software in Bottom Computer; the select and design of hardware and software in Top Computer; the installation and debugging of the whole system.This monitoring and controlling system is made up of Bottom Computer (programmable logic controller—S7-200 PLC) and Top Computer (IPC). The software for IPC is developed by King View6.51. The other assistant equipments such as communicating cable, sender and instrument for measuring are also included. The program of PLC fulfills many functions, such as data collection, signal transform, sequent control loops, pressure of furnace chamber of PID control loops, and control loops for craftwork and interlock. The IPC program blocks consist of system safe block, interface block, monitoring and controlling blocks, history data querying, control adjusting block, data dealing block, etc.The result of operation indicate that this paper's monitoring and controlling system has run steady, has been effective and friendly to operators and has realized automatic controlling. The design method and solution stated by this paper have high practical value and theoretic significance, will be worthwhile to use for reference by the engineer, when they design the monitoring and controlling system for the similar CWS-fired industrial boiler. The work we did in this paper is to supply a good way for building a good small DCS Thermal Engineering monitoring and controlling system in CWS-fired industrial boiler.
