Truss is consisted of some slim bars with two ends hinged, forming a structure with geometry shape invariable. Truss is commonly used very important structural form and widely constructed in structural engineering. With the technical progress of design and construction, truss becomes larger fly-past and more flexible, which brings up more strict requirement for the structural stability. Consequently, practical theoretical analyses and numerical approaches become more important.The truss roof construction of a gymnasium in Wuhan is taken as an object to research of the stability and ultimate bearing capacity. The mainly discusses are followed:1) Building three-dimensional finite element mode including on basis of practical situation of the engineer construction.2) Base on the theory of stability, different number of elements three-dimensional truss system are taken as the objects and analyze linearity bucking, geometric nonlinear bucking of perfect system, geometric nonlinear bucking of deficiency system and elastic-plasticity and two-ply nonlinear bucking of deficiency system of arch truss structure to get the full process curve of load-displacement and make compares to the structure by use of the ANSYS finite element software.3) An analysis of the ultimate bearing capacity is made to the arch structure on the basis of stability taking geometric nonlinear and material nonlinear into account and get the ultimate bearing capacity of the arch truss structure.4)The analysis result can be obviously get that material nonlinear has a very obvious influence to the stability of the structure; Material nonlinear and geometric nonlinear are taken into account as well makes a better understanding of the structure stability and limit bearing capacity.At last, some conclusions are made basing of the above research and some of them are very helpful for the future engineer design.
